Robot, asker of questions

چکیده
Collaborative control is a teleoperation system model based on human–robot dialogue. With this model, the robot asks questions to the human in order to obtain assistance with cognition and perception. This enables the human to function as a resource for the robot and help to compensate for limitations of autonomy. To understand how collaborative control influences human–robot interaction, we performed a user study based on contextual inquiry (CI). The study revealed that: (1) dialogue helps users understand problems encountered by the robot and (2) human assistance is a limited resource that must be carefully managed. © 2003 Elsevier Science B.V. Do You Really Want to Know? Display Questions in Human-Robot Dialogues. A Position Paper
Not all questions are asked with the same intention. Humans tend to address the implicit meaning of the question (that contributes to its pragmatic force), which requires knowledge of the context and a degree of common ground, more so than addressing the explicit propositional content of the question. Is recognizing the pragmatic force in today’s human-robot dialogue systems worth the trouble? ...
متن کاملLeveraging Social Foci for Information Seeking in Social Media
The rise of social media provides a great opportunity for people to reach out to their social connections to satisfy their information needs. However, generic social media platforms are not explicitly designed to assist information seeking of users. In this paper, we propose a novel framework to identify the social connections of a user able to satisfy his information needs. The information nee...
متن کاملVisual Cortex Inspired CNN Model for Feature Construction in Text Analysis
Recently, biologically inspired models are gradually proposed to solve the problem in text analysis. Convolutional neural networks (CNN) are hierarchical artificial neural networks, which include a various of multilayer perceptrons. According to biological research, CNN can be improved by bringing in the attention modulation and memory processing of primate visual cortex. In this paper, we empl...
متن کاملSeparating the Wheat from the Chaff: Evaluating Success Determinants for Online Q&A Communities
Researchers and community managers try to measure the success of online communities using a variety of success determinants, such as member activity, turnover and interaction. Although many success determinants have been proposed in the literature, it remains largely unclear which are applicable to which kind of online communities. In this work, we focus on the use case of question answering (Q...
متن کاملAre You Asking the Right Questions: The Use of Animated Agents to Teach Learners to Become Better Question Askers
Is it possible to teach a learner to become a better question asker in as little as 25 minutes? It is well documented that the ideal scenario of a curious question asker does not match reality. Students are unspectacular at monitoring their own knowledge deficits and their question generation is both infrequent and unsophisticated. Given that many teachers and school districts do not have the r...
